What your job will be like:
As an Electronics Technician, you will assist in the development, fabrication, installation, testing, documentation, and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems within the Fast Electronics Group. You will document requirements, investigate solutions, design and implement engineering solutions related to particle detectors and sensors, including low noise, high-speed electronics, high-voltage circuitry and data acquisition systems and assisting in diagnosis/debugging of electronics related to detectors.

    In this role, you will:

    • Perform board and chassis level assembly, SMT soldering, troubleshooting, wiring, cable fabrication and installation, subsystem installation, system troubleshooting, and system testing
    • Develop engineering documentation sufficient to fabricate, test, troubleshoot, and install digital and analog system components
    • Independently perform advanced board level debugging, calibration and testing procedures.
    • Perform high reliability thru-hole and SMT soldering and be familiar with PCB fabrication and assembly technologies.
    • Support electrical engineers and scientists by designing, fabricating and testing of printed circuit boards and subsystems and interacting with industry partners
    • Perform some light mechanical fabrication

    Qualifications We Require:

    Education:

    • High School

    Experience:

    • 5 years of demonstrated progressive and relevant experience, or
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience with PCB CAD software.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Good oral and written communication skills and be able to work as part of a team with other technical and professional staff.
    • Must be able to use powered hand tools.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks under their direction.
    • Problem solving, organization and prioritization of tasks while working in a safe manner.
    • The ability to lift and carry 30 pounds.
    • Proficient with interpreting schematics, manufacturer data sheets, and technical manuals.
    • Experienced with electronic troubleshooting equipment (Oscilloscope, Digital multi-meter (DMM), function generator…)
    • Must have strong skills in PC based testing software, such as LabView, and business software such as Word and Excel.

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Familiarity with NEC regulations is a plus.
