What your job will be like:

As a member of Hall A, you will support the design efforts for Hall A experimental equipment. This position calls for a mechanical designer with experience in producing complex designs and drawings of technical systems. The ability to produce accurate, simple, and cost-effective fabrication documentation (3D modeling, assembling, and orthogonal drawings) using the CAD NX software is critical to the success of Hall A.

In this role you will:

  • Turn concepts and ideas into working assemblies and fabrication drawings
  • Produce complete designs and drawings of technical
  • Produce accurate, simple, and cost-effective fabrication documentation

Qualifications We Require:

Education:

  • High school degree

Experience:

  • 5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Able to produce 3D models using CAD and data management software
    • Working knowledge of mechanical design and fabrication drawings
    • Knowledge of geometric tolerancing
    • Familiarity with basic fabrication and welding techniques
    • Ability to select materials based on properties and use.
    • Able to create assemblies and manage CAD files

    Qualifications We Desire:

    • Knowledge of electrical schematics, flow diagrams and P&ID drawings
    • At least 1 year experience in utilizing NX CAD software
    • Experience in cost estimation of fabrication parts
