What your job will look like:
Under general supervision of the CFO, the incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating, analyzing, and reporting on the financial operations of the Lab's computational science data facility. Major areas of responsibility include cost analysis, account management, budget planning, identifying problems, and developing solutions.

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for account management, funds control, budget allocations, cost analysis, budget planning input, cost transfers, special requests, and interaction with cross-functional staff to resolve issues.
  • Be responsible for planning, coordination, and final preparation of the project and operational budgets for a computational science data facility.
  • Perform cost analysis on inter-divisional projects as needed; assist with acquisitions alternatives cost analyses.
  • Keep track of funding sources and flows, and elevates concerns to management where funding challenges are anticipated.
  • Provide professional guidance to management regarding budgeting and accounting policies, methods, and techniques.
  • Prepare requested cadence reports and analysis of budget, actuals, variances, and cost projections. Provide financial summaries and analyses for reviews.
  • Prepare and deliver financial presentations to project and operational leadership and review boards as required.
  • Prepare models, analytical studies, and reporting for project and operational expenditures.
  • Identify and remain compliant with relevant financial laws and regulations.
  • Respond to and follow up to ad hoc requests from project staff for financial information.
  • Provide support in such functional areas as budget preparation and cost analysis as well as other areas of financial responsibility as required.
  • Become familiar with Jefferson Lab accounting system and external databases to proficiently perform responsible tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, health, and quality program requirements.
  • Maintain strong commitment to the implementation and perpetuation of Jefferson Lab and Department of Energy values and ethics.


Qualifications We Require:
Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting

Experience:

  • 10 Years of broad training and experience in a wide variety of finance and accounting, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. required.
  • Experience in information management or business analytics.
  • Experience with SQL Server and Visual Basic for Applications.
  • Experience with power query, MS Power BI.
  • Familiarity with DOE Order 520.1B, federal and academic budgetary cycles, principles, and procedures.
  • Experience or familiarity with budgeting and acquisitions in a scientific/technology environment.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Master's Degree Finance or Accounting.

  • Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills are essential,
  • Excellent attention to detail and well-developed written and oral communication skills.,
  • Demonstrated ability to assess priorities, allocate workloads and meet conflicting deadlines,
  • Proficiency in applying accounting principles, policies, and procedures,
  • Ability to interface with scientific and technical staff utilizing excellent human relations skills,
  • Proficiency in PC Microsoft Office, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases, such as Access, Word, Excel including pivot tables, formulas, etc.,
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills,
  • Motivated self starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory,
  • Ability to function well in a faced-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs,
