What your job will be like:
As a member of the Fast Electronics Group, will perform a variety tasks in support of the development and maintenance of electronics instrumentation for Hall D and JLab. These tasks include, but are not limited to, designing and testing circuitry using CAD tools, performing assembly work and soldering of components, interact with industry partners and assist in diagnosis, debugging and installation of electronics related to particle detectors.

In this role you will:

  • Diagnosis, debug, troubleshoot, test and install boards, chassis and detector sub-systems using electronic test equipment and data acquisition systems
  • Assemble and wire electronics boards, including soldering of SMT components, and wiring of electronics systems
  • Design and test printed circuit boards and supporting circuitry using CAD tools, including schematic capture, layout, assembly, test and procurement of components and services
  • Fabrication of cable assemblies

Qualifications we require:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma
  • 5 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with PCB CAD software
  • Experienced with electronic troubleshooting equipment (Oscilloscope, Digital multi-meter (DMM), function generator…)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated strong skills in PC based testing software, such as LabView, and business software such as Word and Excel
  • Ability to independently perform advanced board level debugging, calibration and testing procedure and use powered hand tools
  • Proficient with interpreting schematics, manufacturer data sheets, and technical manuals
  • Familiarity with NEC regulations is a plus Perform high reliability thru-hole and SMT soldering and be familiar with PCB fabrication and assembly technologies
  • Good oral and written communication skills, and be able to work as part of a team with other technical and professional staff
  • Ability to Problem solving, organization and prioritization of tasks while working in a safe manner
