What your job will be like:

The Radiation Detector and Imaging Group is looking to hire a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on detector development and GEANT4 based simulations for medical imaging applications based on micropattern gas detectors. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of staff members in the group on developing detector systems with emphasis on applications in proton therapy, such as treatment validation tools.

In this role you will:

- Implement detector design into GEANT4 simulations to study design optimization and study detector response,
- Contribute to detector construction.
- Contribute to detector testing in both the group labs and with beam
- Contribute to development of calibration tools (tracking, energy reconstruction, particle identification, etc.),
- Provide regular reports on activities to the Radiation Detector and Imaging Group.

Qualifications We Require:


  • Ph. D. degree in nuclear, particle, or Medical physics


  • Experience in related scientific data collection, data management, and data analysis concepts;

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Good programming skills (C++/…
  • Knowledge of high energy physics and/or nuclear and medical physics detector simulation tools such as GEANT4 and Garfield++; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be able to interact effectively with a diverse group of scientists; Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment
