The Jefferson Lab Theory Center is currently recruiting to fill a Postdoctoral Fellow position beginning on Oct. 1, 2023, although an earlier start date is possible. The successful candidate will join the ECA research program of Dr. Nobuo Sato and other members of the Theory Center working with the Jefferson Lab Angular Momentum (JAM) collaboration in support of the hadron structure studies for the JLab 12 GeV program and the future EIC. The position will focus on developing the next generation QCD “FemtoAnalyzer” to assimilate information about various types of quantum correlation functions from experimental data. In this role you will:

  • Contribute to the research scope of the JAM collaboration.
  • Actively participate in discussions with the members of the collaboration and communicate progress towards the milestones on a regular basis.
  • Disseminate the work in the form of research publications and conferences.

Qualifications We Require:

A PhD in an appropriate area of theoretical physics is a prerequisite, together with a record of publications in leading journals and talks at workshops and conferences


Recognized research program in theoretical nuclear and/or hadron physics that overlaps with the JLab scientific program

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Able to communicate clearly in writing (e.g. email, memos, explanations, drawings) and explain work to his/her supervisor and others in the group.

Interacts well with work group.

Can represent work associated with specific projects at professional meetings.
