What your job will be like:
Working within the Facilities Management and Logistics Division, you will be responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance of commercial (office) and industrial electrical systems supporting the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (TJNAF).

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for Electrical systems Preventative and Corrective Maintenance
  • Respond to emergency after-hours/weekend/holiday issues regarding Facilities systems
  • Respond and resolve simple to complex corrective tasks associated with the following Lab electrical equipment; 15 kV, 480 V and 208/120 V switchboards, motor control centers, starters, panelboards, lighting fixtures, switches, receptacles, wet cell battery systems, low voltage wiring, control wiring, oil filled transformers, lightning protection systems and disconnects.
  • Work on multiple tasks simultaneously in a team or independent setting.
  • Provide informative status updates when reporting to the Electrical Systems Coordinator
  • Utilize Jefferson Lab Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo) to receive, track progress, document conditions found along with actions taken, and record labor effort and material cost for all assigned work tasks.
  • Perform quality work in a safe and timely manner in accordance with the current electrical codes.
  • Coordinate work tasks within Facilities Management and building occupants
  • Resolve issues at lowest level with associates, subcontractors, lab personnel and other Facilities Management and Logistics personnel.
  • Participate in the Lab's inclement weather recovery team

Qualifications We Require:

Education:

  • High School Diploma.

Experience:

  • Five years combination of industrial and commercial experience, installation and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with standard industrial/environmental safety practices.
  • Computing skills as a minimum to include: obtaining work tasks and recording work performed using computerized work management systems and tracking and recording data through the use of spreadsheets.

Certifications:

  • Virginia Journeyman’s license
  • Current valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Experience in a broad range of industrial and commercial electrical maintenance and construction applications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot (knowledge of theory, design, and techniques used at the component and systems level), develop repair strategies, communicate schedules and impacts to management and affected room and building owners regarding preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledgeable of and perform work in accordance with NFPA70E (Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace).
  • Knowledge in troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Proficient in the use of tools and equipment of the electrical trade.
  • In-depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code. Must be able to implement this knowledge into daily work tasks with limited general direction.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces (manholes).
  • Ability to work at heights (on roofs and in manlifts).
